Timber Gates Replaced with an Electric Roller Door in Byfleet

Project Overview

Something a little different for this installation in Byfleet, Surrey.

Rather than replacing a conventional garage door, Avon Automated Garage Doors was asked to replace a pair of old timber gates that secured a narrow access area beside the property.

The existing wooden gates were showing considerable signs of age and weathering. The customer chose an anthracite grey electric roller door as a completely different way of securing the opening, providing electric operation and a much smarter finish.

Making Better Use of the Entrance

This project demonstrates that roller doors aren’t limited to traditional garages.

The opening sits between the property and an existing boundary, so the replacement needed to work neatly within the available space without introducing doors or gates that needed room to swing open.

An electric roller door was particularly well suited to the layout. It operates vertically, allowing the entrance itself and the space immediately around it to remain clear.

The Installation

The old timber gates were removed and the opening prepared for the new roller door system.

An anthracite grey electric roller door was then fitted, including matching guides and a full-width enclosure for a neat, uniform appearance.

The new installation provides:

Electric opening and closing
Vertical operation with no swinging gates
A compact solution for the narrow entrance
Anthracite grey finish
A substantial, enclosed appearance
Easier day-to-day access

The dark grey finish also creates a striking contrast with the surrounding timber and exterior of the property.

A Completely Different Look

The before-and-after photographs really show the difference this installation has made.

Where there were previously two ageing wooden gates, the entrance now has a single, streamlined roller door. The result is much neater and gives the access point a more contemporary appearance.

It also removes the need to manually open and close two separate gates whenever access is required.

What the Customer Said

Following the installation, we were delighted to receive a five-star Google review from the customer.

Paula said:

“Really pleased with the job done today. It looks really smart and the guys were so polite and neat and tidy.”

She also praised the price and said she would definitely recommend Avon Automated Garage Doors.

Receiving feedback like this is always appreciated, particularly when it recognises not just the finished installation but the care taken while working at a customer’s property.

Roller Doors Aren't Just for Garages

Although electric roller doors are commonly associated with garages, this Byfleet project shows how they can work equally well for other suitable openings around a property.

Depending on the available space and structure, a roller door may provide an alternative for an entrance, side access or other opening currently secured by traditional gates.

Every property is different, so we can look at the opening and advise whether a roller door is a suitable option.
